The Litter Record

From a lineage standpoint, a litter is still in its infancy in regards to record keeping and historical information. Therefore, one of the easiest records to understand and retrieve historical data from in SoftMouse is the Litter Record.  The record lets you view the history of the litter and parental information and edit the information about that specific litter in real time.

To aid in finding and editing that information, the page is divided into TABLES.  Viewing  The Litter Record and its historical tables will help if at any point it is important for you to see exactly what happened to or who parented the litter.

The tables consist of:

1.  The Main Table --- pup info and is slightly editable.

2.  Pup Information --- littermates information and is editable

3.  Parental Information --- parents lineage

4.  Event History --- mouse participated events

5.  Attach Files  --- stored files

To Access the Litter Record:

Go to your Litter List by clicking Litters in the blue menu header, selecting the checkmark box to the left of any Litter you wish to view, and clicking on the Edit Litters tab. (You'll now be forwarded to the Litter Record Page) --- This is the most direct way to the Litter Record, but because SoftMouse traces the lineage of every mouse, you can also access the Litter record from the Mating or Mouse record.

Once on the the Litter Record page, All editable fields will be located in the Top 2 Tables of the page.  All historical information will be located below it in the Bottom Orange Header Tables.

1.  The Main Table:

A.  Contains all basic information and helps to identify the litter (eg. Litter Tag, Litter SID, Age, State, Mouseline, Litter Size, Litter Type).

B.  You can also edit some information through the familiar dropdowns or by selecting a calendar date (eg. owner, status, etc.) and clicking on the green "save + stay" button to save your changes and remain on the same record.

2.  The Pup Information table:

Will show you all the pups that belong in that litter and their current state (stock, ended, etc.).  The table itself will also assist in gathering historical information and lineage tracing by giving you direct links to:

A.  The pups current cages (Cage SID/Cage Tag), that when clicked, will take you to the Cage Record of the selected cage thereby allowing you to trace caging history and lineage.

B.  Their parents (Sire/Dam Tags)that when clicked, will take you to the individual Mouse Record of the selected parent allowing you to trace lineage.

You can also edit each pup individually or in a group by:

C.  selecting the checkmark box to the left of the pup and using the yellow drop down menu located at the top right corner of the page to select an action.

3.  The Parental Information table:

Will show you the parents of the litter and their current state (mating, stock, etc.). It will also assist in gathering historical information and lineage tracing by giving you direct links to:

A.  The Mating Record (Mating SID) of the parents, that when clicked, will allow you to view all mating information.

B.  The parents current cages (Cage SID/Cage Tag), that when clicked, will take you to the Cage Record of the selected cage allowing you to view all caging history.

4.  Event History:

The Event History table is unique as it was created to help keep you on top of your colony activities. It will list every event that the litter has participated and will participate in.  It will also give you direct links to each event in your calendar, past and present, complete or incomplete, that when clicked, will allow you to view all the details of the said event. --- To learn more about creating a calendar event, click here.

5.  File Attachments:
